Hymen and Juno

Hymen was a male deity; Juno was female. Juno was the wife of Jupiter – the equivalent of the Greek goddess Hera. She was also the mother of Mars, Vulcan, Juventa and Minerva.

Hymen gave his name to any thin skin or membrane – not just the one that's broken by sexual intercourse. According to Wikipedia, any direct connection between the ancient Greek god and that particular membrane is down to "folk etymology".
